There is no question about the current state of our website - It is deplorable, and the database has collapsed. We approached a local Software Development firm about it and they are willing to make the desired changes. In fact they are willing to "put bells and whistles" to make the site to become the "most modern and interactive" in the country. Their fee is Kshs.50,000. Quite a resonable fee for the features that they propose for the site which include:
- Content presentation will be revised (more logical links and navigation)
- Suggested links are : Home, News and events, forum, improved chat, individual galleries, blog.
- Creation of dynamic pages for content that is updated frequently (eg news)The news update (Content Management) system will be redeveloped to make it easier to add/edit/delete content in areas of the website that are dynamic.
- Increase users' ability to interact with each other e.g. see how many people are online, ability to invite them into the networks e.t.c. - overall increase interactivity within the website users.
After Some period of Silence from every one - Even I had given up, but the good news is that the domain name will be renewed till 2009. Thanks to the support of one good Kenyan who unfortunately wishes to remain anonymous.
I do think that an interactive website is a good idea, and the fact that its being designed by straight guys, whose only interest in the website is a fully functional site, enhances its appeal beyond the divisive stereotypes. Now am confident that we shall have a site that we truly deserve - and need.
